Government to encourage mentally ill into work

The government's Social Exclusion Unit is mounting a drive to get more mentally ill and depressed people into work.

Only a fifth of those who suffer common mental health problems are employed, the lowest rate for any disability.

Ministers will also overturn the blanket ban on people with mental illnesses serving on juries.

A review on the portrayal of the mentally ill in the media also forms part of the plans.
