Welcome

Crossrail

Efficient, direct rail links across London are essential to safeguard the long-term economic prosperity of the Capital and ultimately the UK. Cross London Rail Links (CLRL) is a company established to promote and develop these vital links to meet the needs of people and businesses throughout the South East, and to ensure that London continues in its role as Europe's leading financial and business centre.

The formation of CLRL by Transport for London and the Strategic Rail Authority represents a real commitment to the development of new services to tackle the lack of capacity and congestion on the existing network. By bringing forward schemes which are feasible, practical and likely to achieve private sector partner funding, Crossrail will help to support economic growth and boost the region's regeneration areas.

Our main priority is to help the Government and its partners to decide the preferred route, stations and service patterns for firstly Crossrail line 1 (east-west) and then Crossrail line 2 (Hackney-south west) routes. To achieve this, we will be consulting with a broad range of stakeholders and the public during 2003 on Line 1. Your assistance and support will be vital to our success in providing London with the best scheme to support the future of the capital as a world city.
