Carers UK
Back Me Up Campaign

Being caught in an emergency is everyone’s worst nightmare. Yet for carers there is even more at stake if replacement care cannot be put in place immediately.

Carers have told Carers UK that in an emergency they do not get the support they need, often with devastating consequences for themselves and the people they care for.

Back Me Up is a campaign that aims to change that. We’re calling for Carer Emergency Schemes to be available to all carers across the country. This would go a long way to reduce the worry and stress that 96% of carers reported through Back Me Up.

Carers Rights Day 2004

Carers Rights Day 2004, held on 3 December, was the biggest yet, with over 400 groups taking part.

As part of the Day Carers UK launched research showing the impact caring can have on carers’ health. Copies of the report are available from the Research section of the site.
