Benefits increase leaves 'forgotten poor' behind

Ministers have come under fire for a planned increase in benefits of just 50 pence per week.

Those claiming the jobseeker's allowance, housing benefit and income support will see their payments increase by one per cent from April.

Campaigners argue that the "forgotten poor" are losing out as the government focuses more on pensioners and those with children.
