A new All Party Group on Infertility was launched in conjunction with the National Infertility Awareness Campaign (NIAC) with a reception at the House of Commons last month.
"The aims and purpose of the APG is to raise awareness of infertility," says Kevin Barron MP. "There is inadequate service provision in the NHS and we hope to be able to influence the delivery of infertility services in the future."
Although infertility rates continue to rise, there has been concern over the so-called "post-code lottery" in accessing fertility treatment in the NHS. NICE is currently developing a clinical guidance for infertility and is expected to report in the autumn.
The APG membership currently consists of:
Chairmen: Kevin Barron MP (Lab) and Lord Naren Patel (Crossbencher)Vice-chairmen: Andrew Lansley MP (Con) and Diana Organ (Labour)Secretary: Paul Marsden MP (Lib Dem)Treasurer: Bob Russell MP (Lib Dem)
