Public Sector
ACCA has around 6,000 members (ACCA qualified accountants) working in the UK public sector, as finance directors, chief executives and operations managers in many local authorities, government service departments and health trusts. We commission research and comment on a range of public sector issues, including the accountability and transparency of PFI, the impact and practical implications of the NHS’ Payment by Results system and e-health.
ACCA’s Health Service Network comprises approximately 3,000 of our members across the UK and provides services to finance professionals working across the sector. It has forged links with other relevant bodies such as the Department of Health, the Healthcare Financial Management Association and the NHS Confederation. We have also worked in collaboration with the European Commission on E-health, by conducting a studies into measuring the costs and benefits of information communication technology (ICT) investments in the European healthcare sector.
