Interviewed in the FT today, Commons leader Peter Hain says the prime minister is set to mount a reform blitz to address the UK's pensions crisis if returned to government.

Ministers are poised to act quickly following the pensions report from Adair Turner this autumn.

Hain goes on to pledge a "fizzy" package of legislation in a Labour third term.

And he warns that the case for further modernisation of the Lords has been made "immeasurably stronger" by the recent stalemate over anti-terror laws.
