Blunkett and Blair unite to tackle thugs
David Blunkett is today set to get tough on yob culture - with an assault on anti-social behaviour and drink-related crime.
The home secretary will detail his plans in a Commons statement setting out a five year plan today.
In a bid to signal the government's determination to tackle yob culture Tony Blair will say today: "People do not want to return to old prejudices and to ugly discrimination. But they do want rules... proper behaviour... where those who play by the rules are those who don't get punished."
Meanwhile, a new survey of police performance by the Home Office has found that none of the 43 forces in England and Wales received top marks for answering calls from the public.
Tackling volume crime such as burglaries, robberies and local crime gangs also received low scores.
