Most of us are back from our summer holidays and are probably already looking forward to the next. Travel to exotic and tropical destinations is easier than ever. But as our report shows, due to the combination of a lack of advice and urban-myth, many people are risking their health by not taking precautions. Whilst there are undoubtedly contradictions in our cultural attitudes to taking medication - many young travellers complain about medication causing kidney damage on the one hand, but happily smoke tobacco and drink Thai whisky laced with amphetamine on the other - this information gap is adding to a deadly confusion. Additionally this issue examines the government's plans to wire the NHS. And whilst it offers enormous potential benefits, the process comes with a considerable price-tag - and the risks are huge.
