SNP 'determined' to freeze council tax
Nicola Sturgeon

The Scottish government is "determined" to deliver on its promise to freeze council tax levels, Nicola Sturgeon has said.

Scottish Conservative leader Annabel Goldie asked the deputy first minister if the election pledge was "fully costed" and "guaranteed".

Finance minister John Swinney is meeting with local government representatives ahead of next week's budget in a bid to secure a deal.

And speaking in the Scottish Parliament on Thursday, Sturgeon said the government would "continue with constructive discussions to make sure this commitment is delivered".

However, Goldie said the SNP had "ducked and dived" and "broken its pledges one by one".

"It will do anything, say anything, just to get its hands on power," the Scottish Tory leader said.
