MP requests reconsideration for Northfield Bowling Complex to feature in Commonwealth Games
Sandra Osborne, MP for Ayr, Carrick and Cumnock Constituency has written to Steven Purcell, Leader of Glasgow City Council, Sportscotland and the Minister for Sport at the Scottish Government to voice her disappointment that Northfield Bowling Complex will not play a part in the Commonwealth Games.
Sandra said:
"While I appreciate the Games will be centred around the Glasgow area I would have hoped there would have been scope for involvement in the wider West of Scotland area. I have written to the appropriate people involved in the bid to request further consideration be given to the use of Northfield Bowling Complex.
"I believe that the plans for a new facility in Glasgow for use in the Commonwealth Games would be a needless duplication which will adversely affect the stadium at Northfield, which is the current national bowling facility."
