Burns Cottage

The Ayr Carrick & Cumnock seat brings together parts of the old Ayr Constituency and parts of the old Carrick, Cumnock and Doon Valley Constituency. It combines the town of Ayr with the South Ayrshire coal mining areas and the rich farmland of Carrick. It includes the internationally renowned Turnberry Golf Course, Culzean Castle and Country Park and Burns Cottage and Heritage Park. The area is steeped in history and culture, together with a wide range of leisure and sporting facilities including Ayr Racecourse.  Tourism is important in this part of Robert Burns country and Ayr hosts the prestigious annual Burns an a' that Festival. If Ayr is best known for its links with Burns, Cumnock is where Keir Hardie lived, the founder of the Labour Party.
