Ayr, Carrick and Cumnock MP Supports Ayr United Bid for New Stadium
Sandra Osborne MP has met with Ayr United officials at their invitation to discuss the details of their bid for a new stadium and associated developments.
She said:
‘I am absolutely delighted at the progress the club has made in the last few years and I warmly congratulate the Directors for the commitment and professionalism they have shown.
The plans for the new stadium are very exciting and will bring a package of measures which will benefit the whole community with indoor training facilities which are badly needed in the area and socially rented housing which will help to relieve pressure on the waiting lists. It will also improve the environment both in the area around the current stadium and in the part of Heathfield where it is proposed to build the new stadium. While, of course, due process must be followed I hope that the Council will be able to expedite the planning applications as timeously as possible as I believe there is all round support and understanding that a new stadium must be secured if our local team is to continue and prosper. This is a thoroughly well thought out proposal and I am very optimistic about Ayr United future plans and will do all I can to support them.’
