SANDRA OSBORNE MP reminds miners of cut off dates for coal compensation claims
Ayr, Carrick and Cumnock MP, Sandra Osborne, is now a member of the Coal Health Monitoring Group – the group which monitors the Miners Compensation Scheme in Scotland.
Sandra said,
“The cut off date for properly completed claim questionnaires for live mineworkers was 8 December 2006 and the claim handlers worked hard to ensure that all paperwork was completed in time.
However, there are two other cut off dates likely to be set soon and expected to be during June 2007. I would like to make mineworkers and their families aware of them.
Live claimants who have not yet had their MAP medical examination are likely to have to have them completed by June 2007.
For posthumous claims by those claiming on behalf of a deceased relative, the likely date by which they will be required to have the completed claim questionnaire submitted is 8 June 2007.
Unfortunately claims for mineworkers partly or wholly employed by private coal contractors have not progressed as hoped but a campaign of Court action has been started to try to progress matters.”
