Making Poverty History
Sandra Osborne has expressed her appreciation of the contribution of local people to the success of the Make Poverty History March and Demonstration in Edinburgh last weekend. Sandra joined marchers at the Meadows after a meeting of Parliamentarians in Edinburgh on Saturday morning which included International Development Secretary, Hilary Benn, the Rwandan Minister for Good Governance and representatives from the European Parliament and Christian Aid
Sandra said,
“There is an overwhelming moral case to Make Poverty History when a child dies every three seconds in Africa. But it is also in our own interests if we want a secure and stable world. Our Government is showing tremendous leadership in prioritising this issue during our presidency of the G8. Making Poverty History is at the top of the global agenda for the first time ever. I look forward to going on working with local people to make sure it stays there.”
