Sandra Osborne MP responds to the Scottish Health Minister’s decision on Ayr A&E
Sandra said:
“I very much welcome the decision which undoubtedly reflects the opinion of the public. NHS A&A failed to convince local people that the closure of Ayr A&E was a safe option.
The Minister has given the impression that we will now have the enhanced status quo – retention of both Ayr and Crosshouse A&E as well as community casualty facilities and all the other services including the cancer centre and elderly assessment unit.
However, the NHS Board was insistent that this was not an option - either financially or clinically.
If we end up losing these vital additional services and have an A&E at Ayr in name only, we will have won the battle but lost the war.
We must ensure that does not happen.”
