Sandra Osborne comments on Centrum as potential curling arena for Scotland

Sandra Osborne MP has commented on recent reports that Sportscotland intend to invest over £3million in building a new Centre for Curling. Sandra has written to Sportscotland urging that serious consideration be given to the use of the Centrum.

She said:

"I believe it would be hard to justify the use of Lottery Funds to build a new centre at a cost of more than £3million when we already have the Centrum Arena.

"Sportscotland should certainly investigate the potential to upgrade and adapt the existing Centrum Arena before new build is even considered.

"Ayrshire has a strong curling tradition and took great pride in the success of our Olympic Medal winning women's team.

"I intend to ensure that Sportscotland give serious consideration to the Centrum as the Scottish Centre for Curling."
