MP comments on progress at BAe Systems
Ayr MP Sandra Osborne has commented on the up to date position on the proposed sale by BAe Systems of the aerostructures division. BAe Systems have entered a period of exclusive negotiation with US company Vought.
She said:
"While detailed discussions have still to take place it is a relief that progress is being made and the workforce have been informed of developments. Vought is the biggest aerostructures company in the world and the number one supplier to Boeing. Initial feedback is that if the sale goes ahead the terms and conditions and pensions of the workforce will replicate BAe Systems. There will also be a commitment to invest in the aerostructures business. BAe Systems have made it clear that this would not happen if it remains part of BAe Systems.
"I will however be seeking detailed assurances about their intentions at the Prestwick site when I meet with the Chief Executive of Vought."
