Ayr MP delighted at the resumption of work on the New Air Traffic Control Centre at Prestwick

Ayr MP Sandra Osborne has welcomed the resumption of work on the site of National Air Traffic Services new Air Traffic Control Centre at Prestwick.  Work on the site will restart next month.

Sandra said:

‘At a meeting today with Chairman of National Air Traffic Services, Dr Chris Gibson-Smith, I was informed that surveys and ground work will start next month to be followed later in the summer by installation of the ground slab prior to the main building work later in the year.  Two years ago work on the new Prestwick Centre was suspended following the 9/11 terrorist attacks and the subsequent fall off in air traffic.  I have been fighting for the new Prestwick Centre for a very long time and am delighted that NATS is honouring its commitment to build the new Centre which will be operational by 2009.  This will secure at least 500 high quality jobs with additional staff also relocating from Manchester.’
