Veterans badge award presentation

SANDRA OSBORNE, MP for Ayr, Carrick and Cumnock Constituency, held a Veterans Badge presentation ceremony for recipients from across her constituency which includes Ayr, Cumnock, New Cumnock, Maybole, Girvan and surrounding rural areas on Friday 20 April 2007.

The ceremony took place at the Territorial Army Volunteer Reserve Centre in Seaforth Road in Ayr.

The presentations were made by the LORD LIEUTENANT OF AYRSHIRE - JOHN DUNCAN ESQ, QPM and the RIGHT HON. DES BROWNE MP - SECRETARY OF STATE FOR DEFENCE. CATHY JAMIESON also attended.

Sandra said, “This was the first Veterans Badge Presentation Ceremony to take place in my constituency and it was great to be able to pay tribute to those who have served our country.
I intend to hold further ceremonies and would encourage any veteran wishing to apply for a badge to call my office on 01292 262906 and I will be pleased to provide a form.
The eligibility date has recently been extended to cover service up to and including 31 December 1984 so many more veterans will now be eligible.”
