Sandra Osborne MP takes up St. Meddans' Court Sheltered Housing Residents' modernisation concerns

During the Parliamentary recess SANDRA OSBORNE MP has arranged twenty meetings in her constituency to encourage take up of the new Pensions Credits which start in October 2003.

On her visit to St. Meddans' Court late on Friday afternoon - the last of six visits to Sheltered Housing Units in Troon - the residents drew their concerns about their recently refurbished complex to her attention.

Sandra said:

"While resident are delighted with the upgrade of their own individual flats they are unhappy that the communal area and internal corridor has been left in a poor state."

Sandra immediately contacted Cllr. Ian Stewart - Convener of Social Justice (Social Work Housing and Health) . They visited St Meddans' Court at 9.30am this morning accompanied by Housing Officials and met with the residents to address their concerns.

"Cllr Stewart has given me his personal assurance that the matters raised will be dealt with and communication with residents improved. The common areas are to be upgraded and re roofed in phase 2 of the modernisation programme. I urge the Council to programme the work with all speed so that residents can get properly settled after the unavoidable upheaval of refurbishment."
