Ayr Carrick and Cumnock MP, Sandra Osborne is calling on local businesses to pull together and help Farepak victims who have lost their Christmas

She wants to make sure that families who saved all year so they would not get into debt do not suffer after being left in the lurch by Farepak.

She said:
‘I was pleased with the outcome from a meeting between the Department for Trade and Industry Minister Ian McCartney and the British Retail Consortium, which took place over the weekend. The Minister agreed a goodwill gesture with the BRC for people who have been saving for High Street vouchers, hampers and other gifts for Christmas.

I will continue to look into what can be done to get justice for those affected and to make sure this does not happen again.  I would ask any of my constituents who are affected to contact my office on 01292 262906 if they have not already done so as I would like to have an idea of the numbers who have lost out and the extent of their losses.

I welcome the national action which has been taken but I am writing to local businesses to ask them to rally round and help. I will let the media know those companies who make this goodwill gesture.’
