Holiday Season Reporting: Spink To Join UKIP?
A diary piece was published in the Daily Express today, page 19, Hickey, stating that there is dissent in the ranks of Tory MPs over David Cameron's comments on UKIP and they might loose Dr Spink to UKIP who would like 'an MP as able as Bob'.
Bob says:
"I am flattered, but I think dear old Hickey missed the 1st April edition. Actually, he misses most things, (but he has a great sense of humour, so will forgive this little swipe).
David Cameron is a very likeable and optimistic sort of guy. You may have heard me on the Radio 4 Today Programme suggesting David and the equally likeable UKIP leader Nigel, sort their differences out over a pint down the Dog And Duck and get on with the job of defending Britain from the profligate and unaccountable EU Commission.
As for my own future, I am a Conservative doing all I can to serve Britain and the people of Castle Point who put their trust in me. This, of course, includes fighting for our interests in Europe where we get a very bad deal.
I am just an ordinary bloke. I care about issues like hospice funding and improving cancer treatments. I work hard and try to do my job in a decent way. Today, after my constituency work, I am booked to visit a proposed asbestos site in Benfleet that I am fighting to stop, Then I will visit a residential home on Canvey, help a charity day at the excellent Canvey Learning Centre, hold a (hopefully not too long) surgery at my constituency office and try to find time to fix my toilet flush and lawn mower, and finally, a pint at the Dog And Duck.
Fortunately, MPs, like our constituents, have a life and a sense of humour."
