Bob Helps Launch The Better Off Out Campaign

Dr Bob Spink MP is 'always willing to listen and learn'

The Daily Telegraph today reported Bob's attendance at the Launch of the Better Off Out campaign.

Speaking second at the televised launch, Bob said:
"If the main parties don't tackle issues like the EU, immigration, asylum abuse and other so called right wing issues, parties like the BNP will fill the vacuum.

We get a bad deal from Europe.   We are over taxed, our net membership cost is soaring.  We are over-regulated and our sovereignty and democracy are being leeched away week by week to an unelected, unaccountable, profligate EU Commission that can not even get its accounts signed off because of corruption

Europe has betrayed our UK fishermen, including our local fleets and I was disciplined by party whips as long ago as 1994 for advocating getting out of the common fisheries policy.

Worst of all, Europe is betraying the whole of the developing world with it's unfair trade policies.  Getting out would help the developing world and we have a duty to do that.

I have long tried to get root and branch reform in Europe but none of the main parties seem to have any appetite for that.   So I now, on balance, feel that unless major reform is secured, we must get out.  Given our massive trade deficit with the EU, withdrawal could only be good for our economy and jobs.

"This represents a major change in my thinking on Europe and I feel honour demands that I make this clear to Castle Point people whom I represent, although I have consistently been a serious Euro Sceptic.  If people wish it, I would be happy to hold a public meeting to answer to my electorate on this important issue."

Telegraph reported Brendan Carlin asked Bob if he might loose chance of career development, Bob responded "Some things, like the interests of our great country, must come above the career prospects of Bob Spink.  I think my community will respect me for that at least."
