MP Backs Measures To Deal With Abuse Of NHS Staff

Warrington North MP HELEN JONES has supported calls for the full force of the law to be brought against those who harass,  abuse or attack hospital staff. Her comments came as the results of a recent Royal College of Nursing (RCN) survey,  showing that 40% of nurses have been attacked at work in the past year, was published.

HELEN JONES said:

"The RCN survey is shocking.  Nursing staff and other NHS workers face tremendous pressures in a challenging profession and they simply should not have to put up with verbal abuse and physical attacks.We need to enforce a zero tolerance policy and ensure that those who perpetuate these attacks feel the full force of the law against them."
