Veterans Badge Extension
Warrington North MP HELEN JONES has welcomed the news that the Veterans’ Badge scheme is to be extended.
Following her plea in the Warrington Guardian earlier this year for veterans to claim the badge she has been inundated will those wishing to have the badge. She held a small ceremony on 11 November at the Town Hall where ten veterans received their badges from the MP.
Until this announcement the badge had been issued to veterans of the First and Second World war and their war widows. Now they have been made available to those service personnel who served in the interwar years and those who served from 1945 to 31 December 1954.
HELEN JONES is encouraging anyone who qualifies to contact her office (01925 232 480) and she will ensure that they receive the badge. She said:
“I know how much these badges mean to the brave men and women who sacrificed so much for our country in both World Wars and I am delighted that the scheme has been extended to include more veterans who served this nation so well in the interwar and post World War II years."
