MP Challenges Hospital Board Members To Oppose Merger
Warrington North MP HELEN JONES has today written individually to all the board members of North Cheshire NHS Hospital Trust challenging them to publicly reject any proposals to merge the Trust with any other.
HELEN JONES said:
"I am convinced that it is the Strategic Health Authority which is pressing for mergers and that they are trying to put pressure on Trust Boards to agree to them.
Any merger involving Warrington hospital would inevitably lead to some services being transferred from the town. The hospital board is there to represent the interests of local people, not those of the bureaucrats in the health authority.
Any merger would be contrary to the interests of Warrington people and therefore I am writing to all board members asking each one of them to personally state that they will not support a merger with Whiston or any other Trust. Instead they should be working to put Warrington hospital on a sound financial basis and to improve services here for local people."
