MP joins Family Learning Session

Stockport MP Ann Coffey will call in on a family learning session for babies, toddlers and their parents in Brinnington this week..

The Family Literacy, Language and Numeracy courses are run in Stockport by the Continuing Education Service, which has been awarded funding through the Learning and Skills Council (LSC).  The courses recognise how important parents and carers are in helping their children learn, and that learning together is fun.

The Family Learning team run many activities where parents and their children can learn together.  Ann Coffey will visit the Early Start course which is aimed at helping with language development in children from birth to age 3, and which takes place at St Bernadette’s RC Primary School.

Ann Coffey said: “An early start to learning is so important – and language development is the first building block of education for children before they start school. I am impressed by the range of family learning courses being run in my constituency, and really look forward to meeting the parents and children.”
