MP meets Academy drama stars
Stockport MP Ann Coffey will meet first year pupils at Stockport Academy tomorrow, as they present their history project on William the Conqueror and the year 1066.
All Year 7 pupils at the Academy take part in an innovative STAR project which helps them develop their learning and thinking skills at the start of secondary school. This group of pupils have been researching their topic on 1066 and the battle of Hastings, and will present their work as a drama, with costumes in the style of William the Conqueror.
Ann Coffey said: “This is a good way for children to learn about history. They have a deeper understanding of historical events if they do their own research and bring an element of drama into their learning.”
