MP supports Stockport Producers Market
Stockport MP Ann Coffey will visit the producers market on Friday to meet stallholders and support this new initiative, which brings a fresh new look to our historic marketplace.
Ann Coffey, who is secretary of the All Party Parliamentary Markets Group, organised the first National Markets Week in June this year, which saw more than 200 MPs visiting the local markets in their constituencies.
Ann Coffey said:
“The producers market is going really well and I am pleased it’s now a monthly event. I hope lots more shoppers will make this a regular date, because the fresh food on sale is fantastic value.”
Ann will do a market walkabout and visit the specialist stalls, including the Three Rivers Brewery, a Stockport-based micro-brewery who have samples of their local beers on sale in the market.
When Ann met the Three Rivers brewery she was presented with a special commemorative bottle of Double Headed Eagle beer. This beer has been specially brewed by the Three Rivers of Stockport to mark the formation of the Mercian Regiment on 1st September 2007. Only 3,000 bottles were produced so this will become a collectors' item.
