MP Congratulates Women’s Centre on Lottery funding

MP Ann Coffey is visiting Stockport Women’s Centre next week to congratulate the charity on a successful Big Lottery bid worth £266,000 over three years.

Ann Coffey, who supported the Lottery application, expressed her delight at the Centre’s well-deserved recognition as a good cause.

Ann Coffey said:

“I warmly congratulate the Women’s Centre and everyone who worked so hard in putting together this Lottery bid.  I know the volunteers, who are the backbone of the charity, must be very excited that this funding will re-invigorate their work.  SWC will be able to help many more women in Stockport who turn to the Centre for support at a difficult time in their lives.”

The Lottery funding will enable the Women’s Centre to launch The New Life Programme in January.  This will provide a range of services, including counselling and complementary therapies like massage, reflexology and reiki.

Barbara Swann the Chair of the charity said:

“We are absolutely thrilled to be awarded this grant from the ‘reaching communities’ programme of the Big Lottery Fund.  The grant will make a huge difference to Stockport Women’s Centre and will increase our capacity to enable us to offer better and more accessible services to vulnerable women in Stockport.  In many cases these services have a profound effect on improving the lives of women and their families.  Thank you Big Lottery Fund.”
