MP helps Barnardo’s Make a Difference

Stockport MP Ann Coffey will visit a local Barnardo’s shop in Edgeley this Friday to support national Make a Difference Day.

The annual Make a Difference Day, run by Community Service Volunteers,  encourages people to have a taster experience of local volunteer work. 

Ann Coffey, whose support for the voluntary and community sector in Stockport is well-documented, is going along to the Barnardo’s shop to meet the volunteers and help raise awareness of their excellent work for children.

Ann Coffey said:

“I pay tribute to the work of Barnardo’s and the other children’s charities who are working hard on behalf of children. We have to focus on the needs of every single child, and that means protecting them from harm, supporting their parents and giving them opportunities to fulfil their potential through education and outside activities.  There are many projects in Stockport which have helped children and their parents through the Children’s Fund, and I am very pleased that the government announced in July that this funding will continue.”
