Thames Water

About Us

The history of water supply in the London region dates back to 1613, when the first water supply company was created for the capital. Thames Water Utilities, as it is today, first came into existence in 1974, when ten regional water authorities were created for England and Wales. These regional authorities were privatised in 1989.

Thames Water Utilities is the largest water and wastewater services company in the UK, serving 13 million customers in London and across the Thames Valley, from Kent and Essex in the east to the edges of Gloucestershire in the west. We treat and supply an average of 2,700 million litres of water per day, and around 2,900 million litres of sewage.
