Highlights of 2006
- Legal & General again retained its membership of the FTSE4Good and the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index, and qualified for the Dow Jones Sustainability STOXX Index for the first time
- We participated in Business in the Community’s Corporate Responsibility Index for the first time and achieved a top 100 placing. We also came second in our sector in the Business in the Environment Index
- 5,000 frontline employees attended customer experience workshops, to assist the Company in its aim of delivering a positive customer experience
- In February 2006, we were the first company to sign up to the ABI’s new Customer Impact Scheme
- Amicus gained collective representation for 1,236 first-level management employees on 1 September 2006
- We delivered 30% more training in 2006 as we continue to evolve our approach to learning and provide more flexibility for our people
- We switched to 55% recycled content marketing paper, which will save over 10,500 trees each year from being cut down
- We were short-listed by the CIPS Supply Management awards for ‘Best Contribution to Social Responsibility’
- We have broadened the scope of our CSR engagement programme within our supply chain to include social and ethical issues and developed supporting guidelines to influence our key suppliers
- We successfully transferred employees in our Hove office to new premises in Hove. The employees have benefited from a modern and improved working environment and the office incorporates a range of energy-saving features
- Employee participation in our Give As You Earn scheme increased to a year-end all-time high of 11.8% of the company (as at 31 December 2006)
