A House of Commons researcher who claimed he was asked to "dig the dirt" on the private life of a homosexual Conservative candidate has lost a claim for discrimination.

Tom Phillips alleged that Candy Atherton, the Labour MP for Falmouth and Cambourne, wanted to investigate the sexuality of her Tory rival.
