Treasury 'blocked key banking report'

London Stock Exchange chairman Donald Cruickshank says the Treasury "did pretty much everything" to block his report into banking competition, released in 2000.

The department commissioned the investigation - which found that banks overcharged personal and small business customers - but felt the results would damage its Financial Services and Markets Act, Cruickshank claims.
