The FT reports that a row over pensions could undermine the truce between Labour and the unions ahead of the next general election.

The TGWU has joined Unison in balloting members on possible strike action over plans to raise the retirement age for local government workers.

The Public and Commercial Services Union and the National Union of Teachers are also considering possible industrial action over pensions.
