A chronicle of Number 10
The Guardian spent yesterday monitoring the comings and goings in Downing Street.
Among the visitors were Italian prime minister, Silvio Berlusconi, DUP leader Ian Paisley, home secretary David Blunkett and a fox - which was en route to St James's Park.
The prime minister's official spokesman, Godric Smith, was the first senior staffer to arrive at shortly before 7.30am.
