Kennedy appeals to business vote
Business concerns would be "represented at the top table" of a Liberal Democrat government, Charles Kennedy told the Institute of Directors yesterday.
Although his policy is to scrap the Department of Trade and Industry, the party leader insisted that the chief secretary to the Treasury would take responsibility for business matters.
He also pledged to cut red tape by inserting sunset clauses in all regulations that made it through "detailed, rigorous and independent" impact assessments.
