Air travellers to face CO2 request

Airline passengers may be asked to make voluntary payments to help offset the carbon dioxide damage caused by their flights.

In a published exchange between the Department for Transport and the Commons environmental audit committee, the government said: "Such a scheme has been endorsed by the German government recently and the concept may merit further investigations in the UK."
