Blair prepared for hunt ban stand off

The prime minister is determined to face down Tory threats to scupper the Hunting Bill in the House of Lords, according to reports.

Tony Blair is understood to have been persuaded by Labour MPs of the need to invoke the Parliament Act to push the ban on hunting with hounds through, despite Conservative claims that it could mean as many as three other pieces of legislation running out of time.
