BNFL still releasing 'killer' gas
BNFL is being allowed to continue to release a radioactive gas blamed for over 100 cancer deaths, even though it was first ordered to stop the emissions over 27 years ago.
The Environment Agency has conceded that by the time BNFL could build a reprocessing plant to control the Krypton 85 gas, the Thorp processing plant that produces the gas is likely to have closed.
