John Reid is to overhaul regulations next year to ensure that the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Act of 1990 is brought up to date.

In a submission to the Commons science and technology committee, which is conducting its own investigation into the reproductive law, the Department of Health suggested that it wanted to make fertility treatment more accessible to lesbians.
