UK protests over Italian air fare move

The Department for Transport and British Airways have called for the European Commission to intervene after the Italian government ordered the British carrier, and others, to raise prices on long-haul routes where it competes with state-controlled Alitalia.

The FT reports that British transport officials told the Italian government "in strong terms" that BA should be allowed to continue with its fare offers.
