Expert slams 24-hour drinking move
A top alcohol abuse expert has severely criticised the government's plans to liberalise pub opening hours.
Professor Robin Room of the Centre for Social Research on Alcohol and Drugs at Stockholm University said the policy was doomed to failure.
He said existing controls had helped to "keep problems with drinking relatively low by international standards".
