North London radiographer suspended from practice for one year

A radiographer from North London has been suspended from practice for one year by the Health Professions Council (HPC).

A meeting of a panel of the Conduct and Competence committee on the 8th June, heard allegations that Gaby-Lee Franks, registered in NW11, had falsified a time-sheet, including forging a signature, and attempting to claim payment twice for the same period of time.

Gaby-Lee Franks did not attend the hearing, but submitted letters expressing remorse at what she had done.

Pam Sabine, chair of the panel, said the panel were aware that, "this was a first time offence and that Miss Franks had exhibited remorse for her action. Nevertheless the panel considered that this was a very serious matter and that there was a need for a sanction of due weight.

"The Panel decided that an order directing the Registrar to suspend the registration of Miss Gaby-Lee Franks for one year was the appropriate sanction."

The Health Professions Council is a UK wide health regulator set up to protect the public. It sets standards for twelve health professions. The HPC only registers people who meet its standards for their professional skills, behaviour and health, and will take action against people who do not.

While she is suspended from the HPC Register, Gaby-Lee Franks cannot practise anywhere in the UK using the legally protected title, 'radiographer'.
