Tackling bullying campaign

Commenting on thelaunch of the anti-bullying charter, Make the Difference, Doug McAvoy, GeneralSecretary of the National Union of Teachers, said:

Bullying underminesyoung peoples confidence and makes their lives a misery. There is no place for bullying in ourschools.

All our surveys showthat young people have a strong sense of justice and teachers understandthis. Teachers need the space and timeto tackle any bullying. A safeenvironment provides the best conditions for learning.

Schools would besupported considerably if they did not have to cope with a whole range of othergovernment initiatives as well as achieving this vital goal.
