Leading role for local star

Liz Adair, manager of the Reading BUPA Wellness Centre,takes the starring role in a new BUPA advertising campaign that launches onMonday 8 July.
Liz, who has been with BUPA for six years and opened theReading centre 18 months ago, makes her television debut in one of two TVadvertisements, which use real BUPA staff.
In her ad, Liz explains that although heart disease may bethe UK's largest killer, early diagnosis and treatment can help stop itprogressing. Shown in her place of work, Liz points out that BUPA can help'keep people ticking' with services from health checks to heart operations. Shesays: "Health assessments to detect problems early are just as importantas treating the illness itself. At BUPA, we take wellness as seriously asillness."
On being selected to take part, Liz said: "An email wassent around seeking people for auditions. I asked colleagues for volunteersand, on the basis that you should never ask anyone to do something you wouldnot do yourself, I put myself forward too.
"I accompanied two colleagues to the audition to showgoodwill and was astounded when I was invited back then selected for thecommercial."
She added: "Being a part of the advertisement was agreat experience. Using real staff members is a great way of communicating veryreal messages."
Eileen Folan, BUPA brand director explains the rationalebehind the new television campaign: "This new advertisement - 'heart care'- illustrates BUPA's personal health service and reinforces our expertise inprevention, early diagnosis and treatment, as well as care. At the heart of thecampaign is the message that BUPA delivers a truly personal health service toits customers."
The advertisement is part of a campaign, which includes twoTV commercials, five press and three radio advertisements.
