GCSE value added league tables NUTresponse
Commenting on the publication today of theGCSE league tables, Doug McAvoy, NUT General Secretary, said:
Even through the distorted medium ofleague tables, the message that comprehensive education works come through loudand clear.
Despite all the advantages enjoyed byselective and private schools, teachers in comprehensive schools are clearlymaking that crucial difference to children from the most disadvantagedbackgrounds.
We do not need league tables to illustratethat obvious fact.
The annual snap shot of the league tablesconceals more than it exposes of the achievements of our comprehensiveschools.
