The NUT is calling forjoint industrial action to protect teachers.Doug McAvoy, General Secretary, of the National Union of Teachers, hasexpressed delight at the decision of the NASUWT to take industrial action toprotect teachers from increased workload resulting from the funding crisiscaused by the Government.
The NUT has identifiedredundancies, non replacement of staff, fewer supply teachers, larger classesand increased teaching time as the consequences of the present school fundingcrisis.
Doug McAvoy haswritten to Eamonn O Kane, General Secretary of the NASUWT, proposing ameeting.
Doug McAvoy, GeneralSecretary of the National Union of Teachers, said:
Our members will beinvolved in action in the same schools.They will benefit from joint or co-ordinated action and I hope Eamonnand I can meet at an early date to agree such action.
